Perhaps this is too controversial to write? Nah, it’ll be fine! Right, so what is the better relationship status to have during Christmas? In a relationship, or single? I have decided to ask a few people anonymously from both sides of the arguments and see if I can make a final decision for you, here we go:
In a relationship:
“Death”
“CUDDLES. In all seriousness, relationships at Christmas are super cute and precious. You can both squish up in big warm jumpers and make hot chocolate and binge watch Netflix under a huge blanket and stuff yourself with shitty food. Plus, Christmas walks and holding hands is adorable. Plus…Christmas sex in a hotel. Just saying”
“You can argue about how much you’re spending together or what to get each other”
“It’s so good because you can get away from everything and just spend quality time with them without the stress of university or anything else”
“Extra body to keep my warm, that’s about it”
“Warm bed and snuggles. Company. Chance to make someone else’s Christmas”
"Having some to watch Christmas movies with everyday and someone to make you hot chocolate when you#re too lazy, oh my gosh basically like your own little Christmas slave!"
Single:
“Death”
“Don’t have the awkward family dinners!
“Whole Ben and Jerry’s tub to yourself”
“II guess it’s one less thing to worry about over Christmas. Especially with exams and moving away from home and stuff you don’t have to worry about them getting stressed etc. You can get to know other people which is cool because you meet so many more people at University and stuff. In the short time we’re at home you can focus on family I guess.”
“You don’t have to worry about getting an extra person presents or whether you’re spending time with them, so you can just chill with family and friends and not be paranoid about anything else haha”
“I can’t remember there ever being a difference. I’ve hated Christmas ever since I’ve been in retail”
“Umm, suppose being single I can do what makes me happy whilst saving money”
"You can be a hoe hoe hoe"
It’s so difficult to decide what appears to be the better relationship status to have. Being in a relationship is all about the warmth and the cuddles, but like, I can be warm on my own? I have a super fluffy cat, a hot water bottle and Christmas themed blankets? But then being single is all about saving money and not being stressed about somebody else, but then you are already doing that with other people you have to buy for anyway, like your family and friends? I’ve never spent a Christmas with a significant other but I have been both single and in a relationship and at my young age I don’t think it really makes a difference. So, ask me again in a decade!
Merry Christmas and go nuts guys!
